The Spanish Army wishes to publicly thank the many anonymous followers who have taken this institution to the first position in the index of Spanish public administrations, according to Klout – the app that measures online social influence. This is a significant indicator of its strong presence on the different social media.

The Department of Communications of the Army (DECET by its Spanish acronym) attributes this success to the translation of contents into English, which has contributed to significantly increasing its presence in internet and the social media. The items translated include news (http://www.ejercito.mde.es), tweets (@EjercitoTierra) and Facebook posts (https://www.facebook.com/EjercitoTierra.Esp).

A second factor contributing to the Army’s success in this domain is the nearly 90,000 visits to its institutional blog (https://ejercitotierra.wordpress.com), which provides a window into the personal stories of the men and women who make up the Army.

On the other hand, the new format of our newspaper, Digital Tierra, has captured the attention of the public both in and outside the Army with its interesting feature articles and its innovative design.

Other popular means of communication include Flickr (https://www.flickr.com/photos/ejercitodetierra), which displays pictures showing the reality of Army life; Slideshare (www.slideshare.net/Ejercitotierra), where we make available documents and publications which might interest our audience; and our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/EjercitoDECET), which accumulates nearly 1.5 million views.
