The future artillery train in the 'Artillero Carmesí' exercise

From Feb., 6-10, second lieutenants —students from the 5th Course of the Military Academy to become Officers— are training in the “Artillero Carmesí” exercise that takes place at the Field Artillery Simulator (SIMACA in Spanish) and the Shooting and maneuvers range in Matabueyes in Segovia.  

Those maneuvers help to put into practice Field Artillery firing procedures (battery and group level). Technical procedures included in the Field Artillery Command and Control System (TALOS) are included in both; SIMACA and sub-caliber Dynamit exercise. 

In this first training exercise, 52 second lieutenants, cadets from the 5th course have trained in different positions of  those activated in a Field Artillery Group with the objective to put into practice in situ the different knowledge adquired on previous weeks on the subjects, mainly, of Firing and Topography.

The captains, acting as platoon leaders, monitor and assess the cadets in their different positions, handing out tasks, marking exercises’ sequence, and preparing the debriefing for the morning of the last exercise day.

For the execution, personnel from the Services and Support HQ has given their support with drivers for the exercise , vehicles and also for healthcare.
