The Minister of Defense highlights the legionary values at the 97th unit's anniversary

Minister of Defense, María Dolores de Cospedal, has highlighed the legionary values surrounding the 2nd Brigade of The Spanish Legion "Rey Alfonso XIII", coinciding with the 97th unit's anniversary in the event celebrated the 20th of September in Viator (Almeria).

Cospedal has chaired the commemorative act at "Álvarez de Sotomayor" base. There, the principal of Defense has pointed out that the legionary values,
included in legionary creed, place it as the most recognized and loved unit by the Spanish people according to the public opinion.

"All these meaningful values of our Armed Forces, in particular of the Spanish Legion, are going to be emphasize in the next Unit's deploys in Mali and Iraq",  affirmed Cospedal in relation to the new international deploys and missions for what the Brigade is yet getting ready.

The Minister also wanted to thank families because of their "dedication, patience, effort and loneliness" and she wanted them  "to support them and to be their bigger pillar".

Apart from the Minister and other civil and military authorities, the event was attended by the Chief of General Staff of the Spanish Army, General Francisco Javier Varela Salas, and the Chief of the 2nd Brigade of the Legion "Rey Alfonso XIII", General Juan Jesús Martín Cabrero.
