One corporal belonging to the Intelligence Regiment nº1, distinguished citizen in Valencia

Thursday, October 5, 2017

Number: 6255

Corporal Muñoz, assigned to Intelligence Regiment nº1, has been awarded with a plaque that recognises him as a distinguished citizen by the Police's Superior Leadership from the Valencian Community, during its patron saint's celebration act, "los Ángeles Custodios", the 2nd of October, in Turia's capital.

The plaque was awarded by the Goverment delegate in the Valencian Community, Juan Carlos Moragues, in the presence of numerous civil and military authorities, such as the General Lieutenant Francisco J. Gan Pampols, NATO Rapid Reployable Spanish Corp's Chief; as well as José J. Cuasante, Police's superior chief of the Valencian Community.

The act of giving this award by the city of Valencia to the corporal Muñoz is due to the dangerous intervention that he had to face, risking his own life, the 27th of May, when a 15 months-baby went out to a second floor's cornice, with a high risk of falling down. The military soldier jumped to the balcony and moved throughout the tight cornice to reach the place where the baby was. He was able to catch the baby, with just one hand, while with his other one, he kept himself holding on to the balcony, during 20 minutes, until the National Police came and concluded the rescue with security.
