The ‘Trident Jackal’ exercise comes to an end

NATO’s Rapid Deployable Corps Headquarters in Bétera (HQ NRDC-ESP) has been certified by NATO to assume the role of Joint Headquarters of the Alliance’s force structure in 2020 in the ‘Trident Jackal’ exercise, which was carried out from the 22nd of September to the 7th of October in the ‘San Isidro’ base in Mahón, Minorca.

A total of 1,000 soldiers – from 23 countries – 113 vehicles, 30 trailers and 120 containers participated in this command post exercise in which a ‘non-Article 5’ operation, based on a fictitious scenario, was planned and conducted. During the course of the operation, various incidents arose which had to be resolved according to the established NATO procedures.

As well as HQ NRDC-ESP, the command post of its associated Combined Logical Support Group, which is responsible for the logistical aspect of the operation, has also been certified.

In this way, NATO’s Rapid Deployable Corps Headquarters in Bétera is ready to plan and execute the activities of a largely land-based combined operation, with the support of elements from the Navy, the Air Force and Special Operations.
