EUMAM RCA I

Once the objectives of the EUMAM-RCA operation have been reached in the mid-2016, it was replaced by the EUTM-RCA.

With the aim of building a modern, effective and democratically responsible Central African Armed Forces (FACA in Spanish), the mission of the European Union EUTM RCA is based on the strategic advice to the Minister of Defense of the Central African Republic, to the military personnel and to the armed forces, continuing the tasks made by  its predecessor, the EUMAM RCA.

Also the EUTM RCA provides, inside its frame of means and capacities, advice and support to the military field; when dealing with security and the matters associated to the defense of the Rule according to higher law, to the Union’s Delegation in the Central African Republic Delegation, at the same time it establishes links with the MINUSCA mission, with the aim of guarantee the coherence in between the process of improving the security sector and the deployment of FACA’s elements which have received formation.

The principal focus of the mission is formed by the Eurocorps’ personnel, with a current body of 170 effectives. The Eurocorps deployed its first elements in Bangui the first days of June in 2016. The 16 of July it was conducted the EUTM RCA, taking the EUMAM RCA’s facilities at UCATEX base in Bangui.

Spain, as a country, does not contribute with any specific contingent in this mission as it happened in previous missions of the European Union, EUFOR RCA and EUMAM RCA. The 20 Spanish members participate on it at the mission’s staff.
