Peru-Ecuador (Demining)

Peru and Ecuador requested assistance from the Spanish government to begin the difficult task of demining the border area between the two countries. In effect, landmines had become a problem as a consequence of their territorial dispute.

This assistance strengthened relations between Spain and both Peru and Ecuador, as shown by the public acknowledgement of the Spanish contribution on the part of those countries. In addition, they expressed wishes that Spain lead activities of that type in the future and for further cooperation.
