SPFRGT XX

On 11th May 2004, the transfer of authority (TOA) took place between SPFRGT XIX, which ended its mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and SPFRGT XX which began its own.

The relief flights took place between 6th and 14th May.

The SPFRGT, at the command of Colonel Luis Manís Dacosta, is drawn from the 1st Paratroops Brigade Battalion (BRIPAC).

Its 460 members are organised into a National Force Support Echelon, a Battle Group, made up of 123 Marines and 78 Civil Guards, and a National Support Element (NSE).

Furthermore, 78 SPFRGT members form part of the multinational structure of the Multinational Brigade Southwest, including two HU-21 Cougar helicopters.

Its missions are to maintain an active presence in order to guarantee a stable environment so that the country may continue the normalisation process.
