SPFOR XXVI

On 20th September Task Force SPFOR XXVI began its mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will last until the beginning of January 2006. Task Force "Ciudad de Ceuta" (SPFOR XXVI) is made up of core troops from the 2nd Legion Regiment "Duque de Alba" based in Ceuta.

Under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Fernando Ortiz Díaz-Hellín, the force is made up of 308 servicepeople, of whom 195 belong to the Ceuta General Command, with the addition of a Marine Infantry company, a small unit from the Civil Guard and a National Support Element. The unit articulation is Command Headquarters, Headquarters Support Unit, Telecommunications Unit (CIS) and two Rifle companies, as well as medical teams.

Although units from Ceuta have participated in other missions, this is the first time that the Ceuta General Command leads the force.
