Immaculate Conception festivity, celebration of the Infantry's Patron Saint

Next Friday, the 8th of December at 11:30am, chaired by the general of the Army Francisco Javier Varela Salas, Chief of General Staff of the Spanish Army (GE. JEME in Spanish), the acts of the Immaculate Conception festivity, Infantry's Patron Saint, will take place. This year is the 125th Anniversary of its official proclamation as Patron Saint, reason why there will be an inauguration of a paint entitled "Madre de los Infantes", defrayed work with the voluntary economic collaboration of all the infantry men belonging to the different units of the Spanish Army, whose author is the painter Mr. Ricardo Sanz, and to the discovery of a bust of His Majesty King Philip VI, work of the sculptor Salvador Amaya, which has been donated by Caja Rural Castilla-La Mancha.

Afterwards, and also chaired by the GE. JEME, accompanied by several civilian and military authorities, it will take place a military parade in Plaza de Armas of the Infantry's Academy. This year, due to the celebration of the 450th anniversary of "Camino Español", the forces will be accompanied during the act by a section of soldiers belonging to the infantry of the "Tercios" of Flandes.

On the occassion of the Patron Saint, it is also celebrated "la luminosa".
