The Minister of Defense, María Dolores de Cospedal, visited, the 19th of December, the Spanish contingent deployed in Letonia, inside of the operation of the NATO eFP ("Presencia Avanzada Reforzada" in Spanish), and that in January it will relieve the second rotation of this operation, after almost eight months of mission.

Cospedal wanted to transmit them her support in the important collaboration and demostration of the abilities that the Spanish Army carries out inside of the eFP, daily recognized to the Spanish Government. In her speech, the Minister pointed out that from Latvia it is also defended the security of the Spanish families.

She also could check at first hand the high degree of preparation, the excelent material and the tasks that the Spanish soldiers develop during an exercise with the anti-tank misile.

The Spanish collaboration supposes the first deployment in the history of mechanized and armoured units in an international stage; the wide deployment has been contributed by the 6th Brigade "Extremadura".

The Minister also wanted to highlight the compromise of Spain with the NATO to protect the allied values and to guarantee the security of the citizens. "The solidarity of the Spanish people, of Spain and of the Armed Forces with our Baltic's allied countries is shown in a graphic way here", she highlighted.
