The chemical agressive, such as the VX (nerve agent), were the lethal substances faced by the participants of the exercise "Bernardo de Gálvez" that the 1st NBC Battalion (NBQ in Spanish) organized at the Training Centre "San Gregorio" (CENAD), in Zaragoza, from the 9th to the 16th of February.

The Reconnaissance and Decontamination Companies and the Squad of Loss Extraction, together with the NBC Company of the 7th Brigade "Galicia", had to take part in the most conventional scenaries, where they conducted typical missions such as the technical reconnaissances of areas and itineraries, or processes of personnel, vehicles and military material decontamination; but also in other hybrid thread cases such as the performance towards finding clandestine laboratories, obtaining intelligence or emergencies whose causes were not known.

Many missions were conducted at night, with limitation of visibility, lack of sleep and the hardness of the minimum temperatures in February, as added issues to the mission.

The Enemy Unit of the CENAD collaborated in the activities in order to provide them with more realism;  there was also a Light Armoured Section of the 11th Regiment "España" in a decontamination scenary.
