Anti-aircraft 35/90 gun firing exercise of the 94th Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Number: 6726

The I/94 Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group (GAAA) carried out a tactical firing exercise with real fire, the 6th and 7th of June at the "Gacela" Shooting Field of the "La Isleta" military zone (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).

The exercise was carried out with 35/90 GDF-007 parts integrated with the Skydor system, on target radio-controlled aircraft of the Air Target Unit of the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Command and of the unit itself. Two 35/90 Skydor sections were used in two daytime windows and were performed both locally by the artillery shooting men and remotely from the Skydor sections' command posts.

The main objective of the exercise was to complete the instruction and training of the 35/90 sections, using combat ammunition on radio-controlled target aircraft, in order to test the effectiveness of the equipment and to evaluate the unit's means of integration and combat procedures.

Apart of completing the instruction and training od the I/94 GAAA with the execution of an anti-aircraft shot with real fire, the exercise has served to further validate the procedures of the Tucan Air Defence Unit, whose main mission is to ensure the anti-aircraft defence of the islands against any threat.
