The Chief of Staff of the Army—Army General Francisco J. Varela Salas—together with the Chief of the Logistical Support Command of the Army—Lieutenant General Ramón Pardo de Santayana—and other commands from his Cabinet and from the Sensors, Electronic Warfare, CIS Systems and Simulators Section visited the premises of the company Thales in Getafe (Madrid), on 22 October.

Thales Spain president—Jesús Sánchez Bargos—received the group at the Testing Centre of the aforementioned company. He claimed that Thales would be willing to provide the Experimental Brigade with technological material, as well as contributing to the necessary digital transformation of the Army following new trends such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Big Data and Cyber Defense.

To make this point clear, the company performed several demonstrations of the new software-defined radio named Synaps—evolved from the PR4G radio—which is currently being adapted to the waveform Supermux and also incorporates the new European coalition waveform ESSOR. They also displayed their vast knowledge of Command and Control Systems—BMS, SIMACET or Horus X—capable of controlling several sensors from a single centre in order to perform smart surveillance of the operations—as well as the Eclipse inhibitor. By means of this technological leadership, Thales would make collaborative combat a reality, contributing to greater cooperation in the battlefield.

After the several demonstrations, the delegation also visited the Production and Maintenance Centre of the company, where the Defense and Aviation products for the Spanish Armed Forces are prepared.
