Combat in urbanised areas
Decontamination of a container
The assessment of chemical factories in search of indication of double use illegal activities, collection of forensical or biometric evidence, or subterranean movement in search of weapon stores or agressive chemicals were some of the settings created in the 'Bernardo de Gálvez' exercise of I/1 CBN Battalion, conducted from 11th to 18th February in different locations of Madrid, Toledo and Guadalajara.
The training in these cases allowed the participants to progress towards technical excellence in the new mission the NATO is demanding, combined with training activities such as convoy escorting, installation of check points, combat shooting and combat in urbanised areas.
Radiological air reconnaissance with a helicopter from the Army Aeromobiles Forces was also put into practice.
This edition also counted with the participation of the CBN Companies from the 6th 'Almogávares' and 12th 'Guadarrama' Brigades, as well as with personnel and armoured and mechanised means from the 61st 'Alcázar de Toledo' and 31st 'Asturias' Regiments, to improve decontamination procedures of Leopard Tanks and Pizarro Infantry Fighting Vehicles.
