Military personnel of eleven nationalities took part in the military parade organised on 4 April at the NATO Rapid Deployment Headquarters (CGTAD) in Bétera (Valencia) to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Atlantic Alliance.

The event was presided over by the head of the CGTAD, Lieutenant General Gan, who stressed that the Alliance is based on the principles of democracy, sovereignty and collective defence and that, after 70 years of existence, it has demonstrated that it is a united, supportive and cohesive organisation that knows how to adapt to the needs of a constantly evolving environment and is of vital importance for global security.

Various civil and military authorities joined the celebration, as well as a few consuls of the nations represented in this headquarters where more than 300 military personnel are stationed.

During the ceremony, after a speech, the NATO flag was raised to the sound of the Organization's anthem, and ended with an act in honour of the fallen.

In 2019, NATO commemorates the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Washington Treaty that created this collective defence organisation, which currently has 29 member states.
