Bétera is closer to becoming a Joint Headquarters

On Friday the 12th of April, the headquarters of NATO’s Rapid Deployable Corps completed its ‘Valiant Jackal’ exercise in Bétera (Valencia), bringing it a step closer to becoming a joint headquarters from the 1st of January 2020. With this exercise, Bétera is closer to its NATO evaluation and certification, planned for September this year as part of the ‘Trident Jackal’ exercise.

It began on the 1st of April and was carried out over two weeks, during which a command post was deployed which would correspond to an Allied Joint Command, with the ability to lead a significant multinational land Joint Force. Furthermore, they installed a second command post, corresponding to the Joint Logistics Support Group, able to carry out logistics operations and troop movements in support of the aforementioned Joint Force.

More than 400 military personnel from 12 different nationalities of the Atlantic Alliance participated in ‘Valiant Jackal’, positioned within the different platoons and units which supported the headquarters. The aim of the exercise was to put into practice the operating procedures and interaction between the aforementioned deployed command posts, ahead of its certification before the end of this year.

In addition to the headquarters of NATO’s Rapid Deployable Corps, other Spanish units such as the Support Battalion of its own headquarters and the I Battalion of Military Police took part, as well as the Logistics Brigade, based in Zaragoza, and the Transmission Command which, through the 21st Transmission Regiment, provides the necessary support regarding Telecommunications and Information Systems.
