The 6th Almogávares Paratrooper Brigade has carried out the first test in its evaluation to provide a manoeuvre unit to the Brigade which will be part of the ground element of NATO's 2020 Very High Readiness Joint Task Force.

The test consisted in a review of the organisation of the enrolled personnel, the equipment, weapons and vehicles, as well as the archival section, in the 'Príncipe' base (Madrid) and in the 'Santa Bárbara' barracks (Javalí Nuevo-Murcia) on the 15th and 16th of May.

The review was carried out by an evaluating team comprised of staff from the Chief of Staff of the Paratrooper Brigade and an officer from the Bulgarian Army, in his role as an observer from NATO's Land Component Command Headquarters, situated in Izmir (Turkey).

After finishing the first phase, the unit will have to show that it has also acquired the necessary level of training at the 'Chinchilla' training centre (Albacete) to complete the evaluation in two phases before the end of May.

The manoeuvre unit which supports the Paratrooper Brigade is formed under the banner of the 'Roger de Lauria' infantry unit and will be integrated into a Polish Army Brigade which will lead the VJTF 2020 land forces.
