On the 6th of December, members of the Spanish Antarctic Campaign, which is the oldest mission which the Spanish Armed Forces carries out abroad, attended a day of the Climate Summit to present the 17 scientific projects which will be developed in the icy continent during this austral summer.

They did this along with the acting Environmental Transition minister, Teresa Ribera, the acting Minister of Science, Pedro Duque, and his Chilean counterpart, Andrés Couve, who all participated in the presentation of what will be the 33rd edition of this campaign, which is a model of cooperation between different public and private institutions in the interest of research.

The Army was represented by the chief of the last Campaign, Commander Pereda, and its contribution to the campaign lies in running the Spanish Antarctic Base ‘Gabriel de Castilla’. Every year the base hosts groups of scientists and researchers which carry out projects there with the support and collaboration of military personnel
