In the first two weeks of December, the Directorate of Acquisitions for the Army’s Logistical Support Command (MALE, to use the Spanish acronym) received the Army’s Constructive Simulator (SICONET), which has been installed in the ‘San Gregorio’ Training Centre in Zaragoza and deals with the adaptation phase.

The new simulator, developed by the French company the Masa Group, replaces the former simulator, the Casiopea, and uses highly capable software with artificial intelligence uses. It can be extended to up to 100 cells, operates in different scenarios ranging from conventional warfare to peacekeeping missions and complies with international standards so it can be connected with other simulators and command and control systems.

It will also simulate orders from the superior unit, interventions by subordinate units, changes in the tactical situation, incidents and other difficulties, including actions from the opposition forces. During October, staff from the Simulation Group from the Training Centre were trained in how to use the simulator.

The acquisition of the new system is the result of two years of work by MALE, the Training and Teaching Command and the Headquarters of Information Systems, Telecommunications and Technical Assistance.
