"DON QUIXOTE" MILITARY RESIDENCE REOPENS.“Don Quixote” military residence for non-commissioned officers, in Madrid, today receives its first residents after being closed for three years in order to undertake comprehensive remodelling which has converted it into a modern, functional facility that can meet all its residents' needs. 
According to the under secretary of Defence, Ms. Victoria San José, during the formal opening ceremony held on 17th September, which she presided over, from this date “begins a new stage for this building that contributes to improving the non-commissioned officers’ quality of life”. 

 
The residence has 106 rooms, 95 singles, 8 doubles and y 3 adapted for the handicapped, distributed on 4 floors.  It has 36 extra beds and 8 cots.  It has a self-service restaurant to seat 130 people, an a la carte restaurant for over one hundred diners and an assembly hall for social events where weddings are also organized for up to 180 guests.

 

"DON QUIXOTE" MILITARY RESIDENCE REOPENS.Among other common spaces are a coffee shop, a television room, a multi-use lounge or the library with two computers with Internet connection.  There is also a paddle tennis court and a gymnasium with exercise equipment beside the dressing room area.
 
In the remodelling there has been emphasis on innovation, new technologies and energy efficiency.  To this end a group of solar panels has been installed on the terrace roof, which aims to reduce gas consumption for hot water in the rooms; as well, all rooms will have individual heating and cooling systems, which also may be regulated collectively to avoid their misuse in terms of excessively low or high temperatures.

 

Also among the innovations is the new 29 place underground car park, which along with the surface places brings the total to 70.

LA RESIDENCIA MILITAR "DON QUIJOTE" REABRE SUS PUERTAS.As it deals with one of the so called logistic residences, its habitual residents will be service persons who have had to travel to the capital in order to participate in courses.
