A group of 121 professional soldiers have today received the diploma accrediting their successful completion of basic military preparation and have bid farewell to the 1st Troop Training Centre in Cáceres, where they have spent the last four months.

The soldiers, from the only cycle in 2010, belong to the Fundamental Specialities of Light Infantry (101) and Cavalry (20); the latter are the first to undertake the specific training phase at the 1st Troop Training Centre instead of at the Arm’s Academy, as had been usual. This change is the result of the Army Training Centre reorganisation process, through which this centre assumes both basic and specific military training of soldiers from any Speciality.

The farewell ceremony, held on Base "Santa Ana", was presided over by the commander of the 1st Troop Training Centre, Colonel Bernardi, who encouraged them with a view to their upcoming incorporation, on 4th July, in their respective units.

The soldiers began their preparation in March. After completing general basic military training, they pledged allegiance to the flag at the beginning of May, the moment when they were appointed soldiers of the Spanish Army. From that day, they began the specific phase that they have now culminated.
