Ten local painters are exhibiting part of their work from 3rd to 26th May, at the ‘Capitanía’ Headquarters Palace in Burgos within the ’Painters of Burgos’ exhibition, organised by Heavy Forces Headquarters as part of its cultural offering for 2012.

The well-known painters from Burgos are Ms. María José Castaño, Ms. Amparo Castellanos, Ms. Milagros Casado, Mr. Fran Herreros, Mr. Ignacio del Río, Mr. Isacio de la Fuente, Mr.José Antonio Marticorena, Mr. Pepe Carazo, Mr. Cristino Díez and Mr. Fabriciano Martínez (‘Fabri’). Among the techniques that they use are oil, water, pastel and mixed technique painting in works that are expressed from abstraction, impressionism or figuration.  Mr. Diez is also presenting a sculpture of one of the horses of the Apocalypses in recycled iron.  The themes dealt with by the authors vary widely:  from the ‘Water Lilies’ that Mr Herreros dedicates to Monet to the portraits of women by Ms Castellanos, and including the Cathedral of Burgos signed by Mr. Carazo.

The general public can enjoy the works on an afternoon timetable (from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm) on weekdays and at weekends, as well, on a morning timetable (from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm). On 26th May, the final day of the exhibition, which coincides with the White Night Festival in Burgos, the show will remain open until two o’clock in the morning.

The opening ceremony, held on 3rd May, was presided over by the military commander of Burgos, Soria and Cantabria and commander of Heavy Forces, General Domingo Guerra, who was accompanied by civilian and military authorities as well as representatives of the Burgos cultural scene.
