Full operational capacity of the Land Reconnaissance Vehicle prototype certified.

The Head of the Sub-Department Weapon System of the of the Army´s Logistics Support Command (MALE, in Spanish), General de la Hijas, certified in Zaragoza on July 7th the full operational capacity of the prototype of the new VERT – Land Reconnaissance vehicle.

With this certificate, an ambitious testing programme that started at the end of last year has finished. The practical level of the vehicle and all the requirements for which the vehicle was made have been verified. Those requirements are mainly related to reconnaissance´s tasks of Cavalry Units.

These testing involve MALE, the companies making the vehicle (Urovesa), the observation system (Navantia), the Cavalry Academy Heads and the Cavalry Squad “España” 11 appointed the unit in charge of the VERT.

The close cooperation among all the participants in this project means an added value resulting in the prototype superior quality.

Cutting-edge technology

This VERT vehicle is a VAMTAC S5 with the highest armored-platting and a specific design. It has the best reconnaissance, exploration and communication systems. It also has a telescopic support with the latest cameras able to identify an object that is 10km far.

The prototype has a 12.70mm-caliber-machine gun for self-protection that can be used from the inside by the shooter whom, along with the vehicle head, the system operator and the driver, complete the crew.
