On Dec. 13th, ten members of the Spanish Special Operations Command (MOE, in Spanish) received the French Republic National Defense Medal for their interventions in two actions within the European Union mission in the Central African Republic.

General Brethons  ̶ French Operations Command Chief ̶  gave them the award during the 55th anniversary of the Spanish Special Operations units that took place at the “Alférez Rojas Navarrete” barracks, in Alicante.

The decorated military personnel were members of the two Special Operations teams deployed in the Central African Republic in 2014. The first team, in June, supported the Cameroonian troops who were fired by the enemy; the second team, in October, supported a Police unit of the French Gendarmerie that was trying to control a group of hostile civilians.

At the event there were also given, besides those awards, the ‘Machete Awards’ recognizing the suuport to the MOE (Spanish Special Op.) from people or institutions. This year the award has been offered to the Orihuela´s Town Hall , the “Miguel Hernández” University, Asisa, Adeslas and the Works Command of the 3rd General Sub-inspection of the  Army.
