Three members of the 6th “Extremadura” Brigade, with headquarters in “General Menacho” in Bótoa (Badajoz), participated in a Leaders Development Program from 6th to 10th March in Kingston (Canada), as part of the preparations for NATO deployment in Latvia.

In this way, Spain has demonstrated to the rest of the countries that will be part of the mission, the troops that it will provide for the contingent, which will be made up of 300 soldiers.

For the first time, as Major Cardona (one of the participants in the Canada program) has explained, Spain will bring combat tanks and mechanised combat vehichles to an international mission, represented in the Leopard 2E and Pizarro.

As pointed out by the Commander, the aim of the conference was, on the one hand, to bring together all the key personnel to be deployed in Latvia and, on the other hand, to outline the strategic context, including an analysis of the risks and different points of view.

Spain is scheduled to deploy soldiers in the mission in mid-June, for a six-month period.

Also, from 1st to 10th June, the Brigade will move to the "San Gregorio" Training Centre to participate in integration and evaluation exercises relating to deployment in Latvia.
