Spanish Army participates in a conference in Panama about global threats

A Spanish soldier, Lieutenant Colonel González, represented the Spanish army in Panama at the 1st International Conference about Global threats and their regional imapct on 16 and 17 March.

The Organisation of the American States (OAS) participated in the conference, along with six North and South American countries: Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama and The United States. Spain was the only European country to participate.

The lieutenant colonel, a professor in the Department of Strategy and Organisation at the Escuela de Guerra (Army Training Centre), was the only Spanish representative, at the request of the organisers.

During the conference, he took part as a speaker and participated in the different round table discussions that were organised.

The lieutenant colonel presented different points of view about decision making and communication in crisis situations during his talks, as well as tactical strategies and jihadist terrorism profiles.  

The most important topics discussed were organised crime in corruption offenses, the globalisation of organised crime and its impact on domestic law, the prevention and fight against terrorism and its funding, cybersecurity within multidimensional security, and jihad: game strategies and tactics in a worlwide setting.

At the end of the conference, the organisers highlighted the importance of Spain's particpation, and the excellent knowledge demonstrated and the friendliness of the Spanish speaker.
