New specialits in infiltration at High Altitude

Number: 6346

12 members altogether beloging to the 6th Paratrooper Brigade "Almogávares" and 8 to the Special Operations Command have passed the 1st/17 course of Specialits in Parachuting Infiltration at High Altitude with the Use of Oxygen, developed from the 30th of October to the 10th of November, and that involved the fulfilment of parachute jumps from 25.000 feet (7.620 metres) of altitude.

This course, also known as HALO-HAHO course (High Altitude Low Opening - High Altitude High Opening), has been given by the personnel of the Company of Parachute Launch from the 6th Paratrooper Logistic Group. Furthermore, one of its Non-commissioned officers carried out the course of High Altitude Jump Chief and Oxygen Technician.

The jumps, which were increasing their altitude progressively from 18.000 feet (5.486 metres) until reaching 25.000, were performed at the Air Base "Virgen del Camino" in León. 8 launches altogether were performed at HAHO classification.

The previous week to the practices, the participants attended to a theoretical phase evaluated in the base "Prícipe" of Paracuellos del Jarama (Madrid), where they reviewed the procedures that must be followed inside of a plane and they also simulatted possible issues.
