Defense presents a web page to commemorate the 5th centenarian of the first round of the world

The Ministry of Defense -in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and the Regional Goverment of Andalusia- opens a web page for the international congress Primus Circumdedisti Me. Keys for the first globalization, which will take place from the 20th to the 22nd of March in 2018, at the Cultural Centre "Miguel Delibes", in Valladolid, inside the commemorative events of the 5th centenarian of the first round of the world.

The web page is www.vcentenario.es, where those who want to attent to the congress can register until the 28th of February.

The congress -chaired by professor Carlos Martínez Shaw- has as main aims to establish a historical reflection about the first round of the world and, taking as starting point the capitulations of Valladolid celebrated 500 years ago, the circumstances of the expedition which oppened once and for all the way to the first globalization, as well as to spread the knowledges about Juan Sebastián de Elcano.
 

This way, the Ministry of Defense stated the significance that the expedition had for navigation and trade by that time, becoming the precursor milestone of what we understand nowadays as globalization. For that, the congress will be attended by experts and national and international historian people of recognized standing about the navigation of the 16th Century, the discovery of Pacific Ocean's way and the advances in the exploration and in trade.

This international congress of history is the first of the events organized in 2018 inside the commemorative events of the 5th centenarian of the first round of the world, after its approval by the Committee the last 30th of November of 2017.
