The Chief of General Staff of the Spanish Army, general Francisco J. Varela Salas, has welcomed this morning a delegation from the Conference of American Armies (CEA in Spanish), which is already visiting our country, at the Spanish Army's General Staff in Madrid.

The delegation is formed by general Vicente Mota Medina, Colonel Ambiorix Cepeda Hernández, Lieutenant Colonel Edward Bayouth and Sergeant William Castillo, accompanied at all times by Defense's attaché of the Dominican Republic in Spain, colonel Erickson Burgos.

After attending a private audience with the JEME, the group made a guided tour through Buenavista Palace, where the General Staff of the Spanish Army is located.

The CEA is an international military organization, formed and headed by the Armies from the American continent, with the authorization of their respective countries' goverments. It was created in 1960 as an international forum for Army chiefs from the Western Hemisphere. Currently, it is governed by internal regulations approved by all the members of the CEA. The Armies of the CEA are: Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela. Furthermore, it has four watcher armies -Belice, Guyana, Spain and Surinam- and two watcher military organizations: the Conference of the Central American Forces and the Inter-American Defense Board. The Spanish Army has its status as special watcher since November of 2015.
