The Melilla General Command will train the Senegalese military in dessert combat techniques

The Tercio “Gran Capitán” first of the Legion , of the Melilla General Command has been assigned to train Senegalese military desert combat techniques.

The training, which is foreseen to begin in September will be developed in Dodji (Senegal) and will be classified as Cooperative Security activities which the Senegalese Armed Forces will carry out.

A team of instructors will participate in this training where the Lieutenant Notario will be in charge. He is already developing a specific training programme for his team which will include, amongst other activities, an intensive French course, health care education, knowledge regarding Senegalese society and culture, work techniques with interpreters, knowledge transfer days with other Land Force units which have already carried out cooperative security activities in Senegal as well as weaponry knowledge and Senegalese armed forces equipment knowledge.

The team of instructors, is also developing an exercise in the manoeuvre and shooting field “Alvarez de Sotomayor” in Almeria for two weeks. The objective will be to put the desert combat technique training and evaluation sheets into practice which will be used in Senegal.
