The Minister of Defense, María Dolores de Cospedal, has visited the Cavalry Academy of the Spanish Army, in Valladolid, the 7th of November, after having attended to the prize-giving ceremony of "Medalla de Oro de las Cortes de Castilla y León" to the Basic Academy of the Air Forces placed in the capital of Castilla y León.

During her visit, the representative highlighted, in the Cavalry Academy, that there are "men and women that prove every single day their love for Spain, their sacrifice spirit, comradeship and loyalty to the nation, as well as their high sense of duty".

Furthermore, she pointed out that it is her duty to "demostrate that unity makes strength, together we are stronger and the Armed Forces are ready to serve always and to defend this unit".

This connection in between the Cavalry Academy with the Pisuerga's city dates from the 22 of May of 1852, when the Army Inspector, General Ricardo Shelly, ordered the transfer of the Cavalry Military School, placed in Alcalá de Henares, to Valladolid.
