The collaboration agreement signed in 1998 between the Ministry of Defence and the University of Granada led to the creation of the MADOC- University of Granada Mixed Centre (Instruction and Doctrine Command). One of the activities of this centre is the financing of research projects that are of interest to the Spanish Army.

This project has resulted in the methodological approach of the Military Energy Management Plan, which allows you to know the who, what, where, when and how much of energy use in military camps, and in which ways these can affect energy dependency and efficiency. It also includes a calculation sheet that allows you to count the amount of energy used in camps and PGEMi design, along with a video tutorial. They have equally written a series of conclusions and recommendations for better energy use. Lastly, it describes the objectives, content and evaluation of the Military Energy Coordination blended learning training course.

The study has come to the conclusion that Military Law is unreasonably left out of degrees and masters degrees in Law, and there is a need for specialist training that is not currently being addressed. Amongst others, one result of this has been the creation of a Law and Defence web page that is open to the university community and to the MADOC, on which you can find all kinds of current and standardised military legal information.

 

DEVELOPMENT OF A LAPTOP INSTRUMENT FOR ELECTRONIC LANGUAGES
MAIN RESEARCHER: ANTONIO MARTÍNEZ OLMOS

A laptop instrument has been developed in order to detect explosive materials. It is based on a four chemical sensor array with an optimal response that changes colour when around certain chemicals. The array is digitally processed through photos that are taken by a micro-camera, which analyses the photos using a commercial platform such as Raspberry Pi.  A simple algorithm data processor allows the instrument to predict the presence of certain explosives in its surroundings.

UAV: APPLIED TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS FOR TACTICAL USE

This project has tackled the design of a patrol model for Unmanned Aeronautical Vehicles (UAV) based on game theory and implementing a mechanism that obtains optimal solutions for the problem routes in urban areas. These models take into account factors such as “hot” areas or areas of great vigilance interest, and other factors such as energy consumption during the flight. A UAV prototype has been designed and made a counter-rotating electric propulsion, weighing less than 2 kg, and financed by a project of the Arms and Equipment Management.
