Linking the Parts

The objective of these maneuvers was to check on the ground the distinctive capacities of the new Brigade. The collaboration agreement signed in 1998 between the Ministry of Defence and the University of Granada led to the creation of the MADOC- University of Granada Mixed Centre (Instruction and Doctrine Command). One of the activities of this centre is the financing of research projects that are of interest to the Spanish Army.

The 11th Extremadura Brigade cannot hide it, they are elated. The availability cycle has given them a great chance: to be the first unit in the Spanish Army to provide the contingent for the new NATO mission in Latvia. This includes opening the scenario, which brings with it pride and great responsibility, for which they will bring the Leopardo and Pizarro combat vehicles, marking the first time that these vehicles will be used away from Spanish soil.

A big academy in a small city

When thinking about military academies in Zaragoza, the first name that often springs to mind is the General Military Academy (AGM). This is unless the soldier in question belongs to a Specialist Technical Force (AET), in which case he/she will more likely think further southwest of the province, towards Calatayud.
