Carlos Sainz maneuvers at 'El Goloso'

The pilot Carlos Sainz chose the base of the 12th Brigade "Guadarrama" to present to the media the vehicle of his recent victory in Dakar, the Peugeot 3008 DKR MAXI, which he tested in the manoeuvres field of the base "El Goloso", the 22nd of February.

The last Dakar's champion made the 5km circuit several times, which covered on wheels and chains roads of the manoeuvres field accompanied by the accredited journalists for the exhibition, who could personally check the capacities of the vehicle and the pilot's skills. .

The personnel of the 2nd/61 battalion "León" was the responsible of giving the security and marking the circuit based on a context of a tactical exercise of 30 hours which started the day before the visit and where the three Companies of Vehicles and the Battalion's Section of Reconnaissance were involved; altogether, more than 160 soldiers to whom this activity of training had "a special incentive", as mentioned their chief, Lieutenant Colonel Álvarez, due to the fact of seeing the twice champion in action and taking pictures with him during the breaks.

Carlos Sainz keeps a close relatioship with the 12th Brigade; he has collaborated with it in the tests conducted to the Leopards, one of the motives which took him to be dishtinguised as the Armoured of Honor ("Acorazado de Honor" in Spanish) in 2015.

A kept promise

Among the guests of the event, Pablo Motos, the well-known TV presenter and director of the TV-show "El Hormiguero", also attended the event. During his last visit to this programme, Carlos Sainz promised Pablo Motos to invite him in his presentation of his new car, and Pablo did not want to miss this appointment.

Apart from being Sainz's co-pilot during the circuit's lap, the presenter did not want to miss the opportunity of getting into one of the Leopard vehicles which were placed in the manoeuvres field's zone in which the event was developed.
