On the 25th of October, the centre for Helicopter Simulation in Agoncillo (La Rioja), part of the Army’s Aviation Academy (ACAVIET), was given the first flight simulator for the NH-90 helicopter.

In this way the new simulator, made by the company Indra, was received by the Director General of Arms and Equipment from the Ministry of Defence. The Chief of the Logistical Support Command, Lieutenant General Pardo de Santayana, was the final recipient and representative of the Army.

The NH-90 simulator is the first of a complete system which includes two mission simulators, four trainers and a computer assisted classroom. It also has complete movement capacity and emulates 100% of the behaviour of a real helicopter. It is therefore an addition to the preparation for participation in operations.

In the ACAVIET, the centre’s own staff members, as well as staff from the Navy, the Air Force and the Guardia Civil, are trained in piloting and maintaining helicopters and RPAS (drones).

The Academy is responsible for the Simulation Centre, one of the most advanced in Europe, which integrates simulators, flight and maintenance trainers, and computer-assisted teaching rooms for all models used by the Army.
