On 7 June Spanish sappers and British and Polish engineers carried out a river crossing operation so that a company-type infantry unit from the San Quintín Battalion could cross the river Kwisa.

The Polish engineers used a BLG-67, a scissor-type bridge transported on a T-55 chassis. The Spanish sapper section, which is part of the VJTF sapper company, was charged with coordinating traffic in the crossing area. It was a complex task which involved directing the infantry units, organising the crossing across the bridge and providing security. The sapper section was supported by a team entrusted with the marking and reconnaissance of fords.

Rivers are a significant obstacle in Central Europe, therefore the ability to cross them is crucial. The VJTF sapper battalion is able to provide support to tactical teams so they can overcome any obstacles which might hinder their advance.
