One patrol from the 7th Brigade "Galicia" will participate in the multinational British Army competition "Cambrian Patrol" the 19th and 20th of October. At least, 26 military teams from different countries will participate in order to be evaluated under conflict and battle situations.

The Spanish Army has designated the 7th military headquarters battalion team, winner of the patrol competition Tui-Santiago 2017, so that they represent the Army in this bilateral activity.

"Cambrial Patrol" consists on 48 activity hours that are carried out on a route of 60kms where different tests are performed -according to NATO (OTAN in Spanish) standards- in order to test participant teams' resistance and skills under continuous stress conditions. They include leadership, combat procedure, sailing, urban combat, crossing obstacles and rivers, first aid, as well as loss-combat procedures, communication techniques, dealing with prisioners, NBC combat, survival, scape, resistance and extraction, target designation for artillery, equipment and material identification, light and medium equipment shooting and patrol reports.

To face this challenge, the Spanish patrol has developed a specific training plan to gain strenght and resistance, both physical and psychological. In the middle of October, the team will deploy in British territory at the 19th Regiment of Artillery facilities, in Bhurtpore Barracks Tidworth, its supportive unit in the United Kingdom. There, they will get use to the SA-80 rifle and to the light machine guns owned by the British Army.
