HQ NRDC-ESP Personnel are executing a course in Betera barraks about how to manage SAPEM, a JISR tool to exchange intelligence products.

Following the recommendations made by NATO countries in Chicago and Newport, the Alliance is establishing a permanent (JISR) system providing information and intelligence to key decision-makers, helping them make informed, timely and accurate decisions. During Chicago Summit, the Allied Heads of State and Government expressed the ambition to provide NATO with an enduring and permanently available Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (JISR) capability, giving the Alliance the eyes and ears it needs to achieve strategic decision advantage. JISR remained a high NATO priority at the 2014 Wales Summit.
Spain is one of the leading nations in developing the new intelligence management system: SAPEM. The aim is to provide NATO Military Structure with a permanent Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (JISR) available capability; giving the Alliance the eyes and ears it needs to achieve strategic decision advantage. SAPEM is a tool carried out by GMV for the Spanish Directorate General of Armaments and Material (Dirección General de Armamento y Material: DGAM).
The two-week course held in HQ NRDC-ESP is led by subject matter experts sent by the company which created the program. This course, which includes several practical sessions, will allow HQ personnel to use SAPEM during the NATO exercise Trident Juncture 15.
Next step will be to achieve the initial operational conditions at the beginning of 2016. A year in which HQ NRDC-ESP is expected to take the Land Component Command (LCC) of the NATO Response Force (NRF).
