The Initial Command Element of NATO Headquarters in Bétera has been activated to deploy in Poland into the framework of exercise Brilliant Jump 16.

13 may 16.- “Due to the evolution of the situation in eastern Europe, NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, which is being leaded by Spain, has received the order to deploy….”

This is the ficticious scenario where exercise Brilliant Jump 16 “Deployex” phase starts. In this exercise the Atlantic Alliance will actually deploy-and for first time-its Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) in Poland.

Spain, as VJTF leader country in 2016, is the most troop contributing nation with more than 1.300 effectives.

Exercise Brilliant Jump 16 is foreseen to end on May the 27th, and after that, Spain will carry out another exercise in Poland until 10th of June -Valiant Falcon 16-, this time to train its employment as very high readiness force.

Fort this all year, the Spanish Army, trough NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Bétera-Valencia (HQ NRDC-ESP) leads the VJTF Land Component Command, which includes a spearhead based on the Light Infantry Brigade Galicia VII (BRILAT) as well as a forward support element from the Operative Logistic Force (FLO)

This very high readiness land force is the most visible measure within the new Readiness Action Plan endorsed by the 28 allies to improve our response capacity against any crisis in 360º surrounding the Alliance.
