NATO Headquarter in Bétera command land troops of Allied Response Force during 2016 from January on.

On January the 12th the official act of the new NATO response Force (eNRF), where HQ NRDC-ESP plays the role of Land Command, hand over-take over took place in “Jaime I” Military Base located in Bétera. The act consisted of a military parade where HQ NRDC-ESP Commander, Lieutenant General Rafael Comas Abad, received the eNRF flag from Lieutenant General Volker Halbauer, Commander of 1st German-Netherland Corps, which performed that command throughout 2015. The act, which was chaired by USA Lieutenant General John W. Nicholson, NATO Land Commander, counted on the presence of civilian and military authorities like Molt Honorable Mr President of Generalitat Valenciana, National Government representative in Valencia, Bétera mayoress, Joint Staff Commander, Army Staff Deputy Commander and also different allied nation representatives. Bétera Headquarter succeed on the demanding evaluation during Trident Juncture 15 exercise, which was carried out in Zaragoza at the end of the past year; and it is the first one commanding the Land forces of the eNRF. This new force is a Reaction Action Plan (RAP) part, which was approved in Wales Summit in September 2014, against new threats the world is facing. eNRF will not only be increased in troops number, reaching 15,000 in the Land Component, but also in the readiness, becoming a faster and more effective tool on the hands of the Allies. All 2016 long, HQ NRDC-ESP assumes the Land Component Command of that new allied response force, that includes a spearhead or Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF), which is based on Spanish Light Infantry Brigade ´Galicia´ VII.
