Vessel transporting spanish equipment and vehicles of NATO Response Force arrives to Poland.

Arrived to Szscecin sea port in Poland

“Morning Celesta” cargo ship, which departed past May the 12th from Vigo, has arrived to Szscecin sea port in Poland with 500 Spanish military vehicles and more than 70 material containers. 

The 1,300 Spanish troops who will participate in the Atlantic Alliance maneuvers started flying past weekend. 

18 may 16.- After the activation order from the NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers in Europe-located in Mons, Belgium-the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) is been building up and now is in the operation area: Poland this time. 

First elements of VJTF, which is leaded by Spain in 2016, deployed via air in the previous days, accomplishing the due dates ordered by the Alliance when this new response Force was designed. 

Today this cargo ship with the majority amount of combat vehicles and military equipment has arrived to Szczecin port, from where they will move to Zagan Military Training Area. In this location is where deployment and force employment exercises will take place: Brilliant Jump 16 and Valiant Falcon 16. 

The arrival of this vessel with the Spanish force has been chaired by Mr.Piotr Janis, West Pomerania region president. The event also counted on the presence of Major General Juan Montegro, Chief of Staff of Bétera NATO Headquarters, as the highest Spanish authority. 

NATO Multinational Corps Northeast Headquarters, which home base is in this port city of Szczecin, will be in charge of force projection from port arrival to operations area in Zagan boot camp.
