His Majesty the King Felipe VI visited the Training Centre “San Gregorio” (Zaragoza) on 27 May during the “White Snake” exercise of the Medical Brigade (BRISAN) in order to get first-hand knowledge of the capabilities of the Armed forces in terms of healthcare. He was accompanied by General Jaime Domínguez Buj, Chief of the Army Staff.

After an introductory talk, the king toured the nine treatment stations deployed for the occasion: Stabilization cell, tactical telemedicine, rotary wing air evacuation cell, mobile surgical resuscitation team, advanced surgical team, basic activation unit of field hospital, medical logistics support unit and NBC decontamination station.

During his tour, Felipe VI posed numerous questions to learn about the operation and resources of the different units. He also climbed aboard a Cougar helicopter while it was on the ground to hear about the equipment to take care of the wounded during transport.

304 BRISAN members took part in the “White Snake” exercise from 24 to 28 May. Its objective was to consolidate tactics, techniques and procedures of operational health support in its medical protection and prevention missions; retrieval, treatment and evacuation of the injured; and pharmaceutical, veterinary, dental and psychological support.
