Lt. Col. Cañadas has become the first woman in the Spanish Armed Forces in taking over – on Sept. 9th at The Goloso base- of a Batallion; in particular, the 12th Spanish Army Field Artillery Group (GACA in Spanish).
‘It´s one of my most important military days’, she said to those present just before taking over. With it, she has fulfilled the greatest personal and professional expectations that she thought about and that were unimaginable months ago.
She also had grateful words for her family, in particular her sons and her husband, who is also Lt. Col. She asked to her new subordinates to always try their best and to be the best and not to doubt the loyalty of their Lt. Col.
The first woman to get the position of lieutenant colonel in the Spanish Armed Forces was Patricia Ortega, today Colonel Ortega, member of the Polytechnic Engineers Coprs in 2009.
