The flag and a company from the 3rd ‘Principe’ Infantry Regiment from the 7th ‘Galicia’ Brigade, as well as two Tiger helicopters and another two NH 90s from the Army’s Aeromobile Forces took part in the parade which was carried out on the Champs Elysees in Paris on Bastille Day (14th of July).

They were joined by members of the Navy, the Air Force and the Civil Guard, comprising a delegation of 128 people, led by the acting Defence Minister, Margarita Robles, and the Secretary of State for Defence, Ángel Olivares, who witnessed the parade from the platform for important guests, along with representatives from other participating countries.

Along with the French and Spanish units, there were units from eight other European countries: Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom. Appropriately, the slogan chosen for this year’s celebration was ‘Acting together’.

The military parade commemorates the taking of the Bastille on the 14th of July 1789, which started the French Revolution and which, since 1880, has been established as the French national day.
