KSPAGT VI

The "Almogávares" Combat Group remained in the region from the end of September until the end of March.

Under the command of Colonel Juan Vargas Lázaro, the force had 872 men and women. It was drawn from the 2nd Company "Roger de Lauria" of the Paratroops Brigade, reinforced with a battalion from the 2nd "Duque de Alba" Regiment of the Legion based in Ceuta, and a Cavalry Squadron from the 8th Regiment "Lusitania" from Bétera (Valencia), a Special Operations Unit from the GOE IV in Barcelona and a Platoon from the Civil Guard.

Its structure was completed with one unit each from Communications, Intelligence and Engineers from the Paratroops Brigade; and two units from Civic-Military Affairs (CIMIC), from the Canary Military Zone and the General Command in Melilla respectively.
