KSPAGT VII

The "Galicia" Battalion Task Force, currently detached in Kosovo, reached the region at the end of March and will remain there until the end of September.

Under the command of Colonel Francisco Ramos Oliver, the force was taken from the Light Infantry Airborne Brigade (BRILAT) based in Figueirido (Galicia) and Siero (Asturias), it contributes 744 men and women, most of whom belong to the 3rd Regiment "Príncipe".

Members of the Communications and Intelligence Units, as well as those from the Logistics Group, also form part of BRILAT.

The combat group is completed with reinforcements from the 8th Cavalry Regiment "Lusitania"; a military police unit from the Civil Guard; a special reconnaissance unit from the Legionnaire Special Operations Battalion; and, for the first time in a peacekeeping mission, a light infantry company from the "Regulares" Forces of the 52nd Infantry Regiment "Melilla" and a light infantry platoon from the Royal Guard.

Forming part of the Multinational Brigade West, the Combat Group is deployed in the Istok region, to the north-west of Kosovo, except for the Special Operations and Engineering units situated in the cities of Baja and Djakovica.

The principal mission of the Spanish force consists of guaranteeing stability in its area of responsibility and assuring the return and settlement of displaced Serbs.
