Departure of the Field Artillery Command’s 7th Autonomous Sensorised Intelligence Platform Unit Bound for Afghanistan

Today the members of the 7th Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Unit depart bound for Afghanistan, by air.

On 16th March last on the parade ground of Base “Conde de Gazola” (León), the farewell ceremony took place for the 7th Autonomous Sensorised Intelligence Platform Unit, belonging to the 63rd Field Artillery Regiment, which after undertaking an intensive operational preparation phase will carry out its mission for the next six months in Afghanistan.

The unit at the command of Captain Joaquín Alonso will hand over from the 6th Autonomous Sensorised Intelligence Platform Unit made up of personnel from the 1st Intelligence Regiment from the High Readiness Headquarters in Valencia. The Searcher MK-II J equipping the Army since 2008 and deployed in Afghanistan will be the materiel that the unit employs to carry out surveillance and intelligence functions, by undertaking reconnaissance of the areas where our forces operate to assure their support and protection.
