New military camp materiel and food supplies arrived throughout the day in Lorca (Murcia), from the 11th and 21st Logistic Support Groups to aid the victims of the 11th May earthquake.

Transported in the convoys were modular tents and bunk beds to accommodate some 1,000 additional people.

During the night of the disaster, personnel from the 3rd Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment –whose commander, Colonel Juan Carlos López Roca, has been designated by the Army as the military support co-ordination authority -, the Paratroops Brigade’s 3rd Battalion "Ortiz de Zárate" and the Legion Brigade who had transferred to the area had provided shelter to some 1,500 people more.

In turn, the 1st Medical Group maintains the installation of a field medical formation beside the town’s hospital, which is prepared to treat the injured who could be transferred to them, while one of its advanced vital support ambulances accompanies those undertaking rubble clearance and building assessment labours.

The Army has deployed nearly 150 personnel and remains on alert in case its collaboration is again required.
