US Base "Camp Aachen", situated in the locality of Grafenwöhr (Germany), is the scenario, from 8th to 23rd September, of the most important multinational Command, Control, Communications and Information Systems exercise. Direction of this exercise, called “Combined Endeavour", corresponds to the US Command in Europe.

Concentrated on "Camp Aachen" there are over one thousand servicepersons from 37 countries, among them 16 from the Spanish Army, who belong to the Information and Communication System Command, the Signals Brigade as well as the Weapons and Materiel Directorate General.   Responsibility for planning and executing the Exercise in the Spanish Army corresponds to the Information and Communication System Command.

The objective of exercise "Combined Endeavour" is to guarantee interoperability of the Information and Communication Systems of NATO member countries and to NATO programme “Association for Peace”, aimed at strengthening Atlantic Alliance relationships with non-member countries.

The exercise has great importance for the Spanish Army, since it allows testing with other countries, in a controlled environment, some systems already in use or pending deployment in hostile environments, such as the case of the systems based on Voice over Internet Protocol, Friendly Force Tracking or the Spanish Army Command and Control System.

In parallel, an innovative activity is being undertaken in Grafenwöhr called  "Cyber Endeavour", which will allow obtaining knowledge on cyber warfare, a very up to the minute question of enormous importance in the short term.  Participating in this exercise is a Spanish Army officer.
